Unheralded Aussie Aleks Vukic faces his date with destiny tonight, trying to do what Thanasi Kokkinakis couldn’t to earn a spot in the Australian Open fourth round.

Kokkinakis pushed Brit Jack Draper to the brink despite a pectoral injury, and now Vukic will be hoping to go one better, in his first ever grand slam third round match.
The 28-year-old would crack the ATP top 60 with a win tonight, not far off his career best of world No.48, reached around the time he made his one and only ATP final, in Atlanta in 2023.
A win over Draper would mark the third time in Vukic’s career he has beaten a top-20 player, having beaten world No.22 Seb Korda in the second round in five sets.
Vukic’s match is second on Margaret Court Arena, following the all-North American battle between Coco Gauff and Leylah Fernandez.
Elsewhere tonight, it’s a Serbian double act on Rod Laver Arena with Novak Djokovic facing promising young Czech Tomas Machac, and then Olga Danilovic trying to upset No.7 seed Jessica Pegula.
On John Cain Arena, new mums with resumes much better than their rankings face off with Naomi Osaka battling Belinda Bencic, before the all-French battle of Ugo Humbert against Arthur Fils.
