Clubs across the continent are in the market for January transfer deals as they look to strengthen their squads for the second half of the 2024/25 season with titles, European football and survival all on the line.
Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City are all rumoured to be circling new arrivals as they battle it out in the Premier League while the window could see some big exits confirmed with Trent Alexander-Arnold negotiating a possible free transfer to Real Madrid and Manchester United open to selling Marcus Rashford. Randal Kolo Muani is said to be one option for United, who look likely to miss out on Viktor Gyokeres this month, while Arsenal and Liverpool are chasing Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao.
One of the more intriguing sagas is the fate of Dani Olmo who could be left in limbo is Barcelona fail in their attempts to re-register him. The Spanish giants are battling LaLiga over finanical issues which could mean Olmo needs to find a new club and there are plenty of teams, Arsenal and Chelsea included, monitoring the situation.
And across the rest of the English top-flight, clubs are sticking to PSR regulations and tight budgets as they look to find cut-price deals to bolster their squads.

Man City target £50m attacking star
13:52 , Luke Baker
Manchester City need to freshen up their attacking talent as they try to salvage their season and Pep Guardiola’s men are targeting a £50m raid for Eintracht Frankfurt No 10 Omar Marmoush, according to Sam Wallace at The Telegraph.
The Egyptian international has been dubbed, perhaps inevitably ‘the next Mo Salah’ by some and has a versatility that could be invaluable to City – with the 25-year-old comfortable in a variety of attacking positions.
Marmoush joined Frankfurt on a free transfer from Wolfsburg at the start of last season and has shone, banging in 13 goals and contributing seven assists already this term.
He still has two and a half years left on his contract and although the original intention was a summer sale, City’s desperation could seal a move this month.
Everton interested in Aston Villa star
13:36 , Luke Baker
Everton may look elsewhere in the Premier League to bolster their squad, with Fabrizio Romano suggesting they’re interested in Aston Villa winger Jaden Philogene.
Romano says the Toffees have opened talks and that negotiations are for a permanent move rather than a loan.
West Ham approach two other candidates as Graham Potter deal hinges on key factor
13:20 , Luke Baker
Away from the world of player transfers, the managerial merry go-round looks like it may be starting up again.
West Ham remain in advanced talks with Graham Potter to become their new manager, despite Julen Lopetegui taking training as normal on Tuesday morning.
Lopetegui’s position at West Ham is seen as untenable, although much still hinges on whether Potter will decide to take the job at the London Stadium, with Everton – under new ownership – also an option.
West Ham are keen to make the 53-year-old their next manager, having also approached two other candidates. The Hammers are understood to have sounded out former Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier, while there has previously been interest in Milan’s Sergio Conceicao.

Son Heung Min to stay at Tottenham as club confirm contract extension
13:03 , Luke Baker
Son Heung Min is set to stay at Tottenham beyond this season after the club triggered an extension option in his contract.
The South Korean’s deal was due to expire at the end of this campaign after a decade at the north London club.
But Spurs have activated an extension to their captain’s deal, keeping him under contract until the conclusion of the 2025/26 season and ensuring that he can not depart on a free transfer this summer.
Barcelona were apparently looking to sign Son on a free this summer, given their financial woes, but that now appears to be a no-go
Arne Slot hints at Liverpool transfer plans with comment on January window
12:49 , Luke Baker
Arne Slot has said that Liverpool are keeping an eye open for a chance to strengthen in the transfer window and shrugged off the scrutiny on his side by saying that if he spent his time looking at social media, he would have no life.
The Dutchman ignored top scorer Mohamed Salah’s jibe at former Liverpool vice-captain Jamie Carragher to concentrate on his team. Salah posted that Carragher was “obsessed” with him after the pundit’s latest discussion on his contract.
And he confirmed that the Premier League leaders will look for opportunities in the winter window, even as he is content with the squad who have also gone top of the Champions League and reached the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Another European giant in for Rashford
12:23 , Luke Baker
The race to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United this January is heating up, with another European giant considering a loan move for the forward.
AC Milan and Juventus has already been reported as being interested and now The Athletic are reporting that Borussia Dortmund are weighing up an attempt at recruiting the 27-year-old.
Rashford has stated he is “ready for a new challenge” away from Old Trafford although it’s not guaranteed he will leave this month. His contract, which reportedly pays him £325,000 per week until 2028, could prove to be a stumbling block.
United and Dortmund did business last January when Jadon Sancho joined the German side on loan after things went south for him with the Red Devils.
Aston Villa agree deal to sign Donyell Malen
12:02 , Luke Baker
Aston Villa look set to add to their squad as they target a Champions League place once more, with talkSPORT reporting that Borussia Dortmund forward Donyell Malen is set to sign.

11:43 , Luke Baker
Chris Wood has scored 11 goals in the Premier League this and is garnering interest from other clubs.
According to Fotomac, Turkish giants Besiktas are eyeing a move for the forward in the hopes of bringing him in as a partner for striker Ciro Immobile.
Nottingham Forest are, understandably, not keen on selling during this window as they hope to maintain their great form and keep themselves in the top four.
Arsenal have bid rejected for Brazilian striker
11:31 , Luke Baker
Arsenal’s search for a striker has led them to South America, where they have reportedly had an opening bid rejected for Botafogo star Igor Jesus.
The Gunners have been linked with the likes of Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko but with that calibre of player unlikely to be available until the summer, they’re aiming for a cheaper stop-gap solution.
Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte are reporting that Botafogo have rejected an opening offer from the gunners for Jesus, although the amount is unknown, and that although the 23-year-old has an £83m release clause in his contract, a £16.6m bid may be enough to sign him.
Barcelona to make shock Son Heung Min move?
11:17 , Luke Baker
Tottenham star Son Heung Min could be on the move to Barcelona, with the Spanish side set to make a shock bid to bring the South Korean to Catalonia on a free transfer in the summer.
That’s according to The Sun, via Spanish outlet El Nacional, as Barca’s financial situation means they’re having to target free agents, of which the Spurs captain is one. Bayern Munich pair Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sane, plus Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah are also supposedly being targeted by Hansi Flick’s outfit.
Renato Veiga wanted by Italian clubs
11:03 , Luke Baker
Chelsea star Renato Veiga is being watched by a number of clubs for a possible January move.
The Portuguese defender has been brilliant in Chelsea’s Conference League campaign but has had no opportunities to shine in the Premier League under Enzo Maresca.
German club Stuttgart are interested in bringing him in this month but they face competition from Napoli and Juventus from Serie A.
AC Milan to pounce on Olmo situation
10:46 , Luke Baker
Italian giants AC Milan hope to pounce on the Dani Olmo situation at Barcelona.
The Spanish midfielder finds himself in deep water after Barcelona chiefs failed to seal his registration with La Liga. The Spanish giants are going through their options to keep him but may need to offload the player if they can’t register him with the Spanish footballing authorities.
According to SPORT, the Italian side are willing to offer him a six-month loan move to the San Siro after which time he would return to Barcelona.
It is a deal which could suit all parties though their are Premier League clubs also monitoring the situation and could yet throw spanners in the works.
Leroy Sane to make shock Man City return
10:30 , Luke Baker
Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane is being linked with a return to Manchester City this month in a potential shock move.
According to Football Insider, City are one of a number of Premier League clubs – along with the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea – to be monitoring his situation.
The 28-year-old Sane only has six months to run on his Bayern contract, so could agree a pre-contract for the summer from now, although City are keen to strengthen in January to salvage their season.
Sane left City in 2020, as he moved to Bayern for a fee reported to be around £55m.
Man Utd add Denmark international Patrick Dorgu to wing-back wishlist
10:10 , Luke Baker
As Ruben Amorim continues to implement his 3/5 at the back formation at Manchester United, the club are in the market for a left wing-back this January.
According to the incorrigible Fabrizio Romano, Danish international Patrick Dorgu – who plys his trade for Italian side Lecce – has been added to their list.
Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez and PSG’s Nuno Mendes would be United’s preferred option but they’re more expensive and Dorgu has been monitored by Man Utd scouts in recent months. Napoli are also keen on the Dane, according to Romano.
Joshua Zirkzee and Antony wanted on loan by European clubs as Man Utd look to rebuild
09:50 , Luke Baker
Manchester United forwards Joshua Zirkzee and Antony are attracting interest from European clubs who want to take them on loan.
But United are keen to keep Zirkzee, who is a target for Juventus, despite a traumatic time for the summer signing when supporters first cheered his substitution and then booed the Dutchman as he went off in last Monday’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle. However, Zirkzee’s name was sung by supporters in Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Liverpool, when he came off the bench.
United see Zirkzee as an important member of their squad, though the 23-year-old has only scored four goals in 27 appearances since his £36.5m move from Bologna.
Meanwhile, Real Betis are one of several clubs who hope to borrow Antony for the second half of the season. The £85m winger, the second most expensive signing in United’s history, has not started a league game this season and has only played 84 minutes of top-flight football, spread over six substitute appearances.

Man Utd exploring deal for Kolo Muani
09:29 , Luke Baker
With news that Viktor Gyokeres is unlikely to leave Sporting this month, Manchester United are exploring other striker options with Randal Kolo Muani apparently high on their list.
According to David Ornstein at The Athletic, United and Tottenham are actively exploring a deal to sign Kolo Muani on loan from PSG.
The France striker is also wanted by Juventus and Ornstein says they are the leading contenders to capture his signature, with the France striker short of game-time at PSG but regarded by his suitorsas one of the best versatile attackers currently on the market.
Kolo Muani, who moved to PSG from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023 for €90m and is under contract until 2028, has played just 14 times for the French side this season, providing two goals and an assist.
Virgil van Dijk ‘offered to Real Madrid’
09:12 , Luke Baker
Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for Trent Alexander-Arnold but it’s another Liverpool defender that they have reportedly turned down the opportunity to sign.
Virgil van Dijk was ‘offered to Real Madrid’ by the player’s agent, according to Spanish outlet Relevo, but the Spanish club have declined as they look at other players more suited to their project.
Van Dijk is a free agent in the summer and yet to agree a new contract with Liverpool. His agent is said to have contacted Madrid officials to inform them the 33-year-old was keen on a move to the Bernabeu, especially knowing the team have struggled with injuries at centre-back to David Alaba and Eder Militao, but Madrid refused to take up the option.
Man Utd forced to move on after Viktor Gyokeres update
08:48 , Luke Baker
Viktor Gyokeres is set to stay at Sporting CP this winter, with negotiations to buy him from the Portuguese club being delayed until the summer, meaning Manchester United will need to look elsewhere to solve their striker issue this January.

Zirkee has only scored three Premier League goals since his arrival at Old Trafford and is in the firing line as one of the squad players underforming.
The Dutchman signed for £36.5m in the summer but could make an early exit if a swap deal for Vlahovic can be arranged. Vlahovic has just 18 months left on his Juve contract in Turin and the Italian giants hope to benefit from his exit.
The Serbia international is the club’s top scorer this season with 12 goals in all competitions and has the ability to lead the line for United.

Players who may move in January
07:00 , Mike Jones
Liam Delap
The Ipswich Town striker has only scored six goals so far this term, but his performances have impressed a range of top-flight teams, including Chelsea and former club Manchester City (who have included a buy-back clause for the 21-year-old).
Reports suggest that Delap could be available for £30m this window, though it remains to be seen if Ipswich would be that willing to sell a key player as they look to avoid relegation.

06:00 , Mike Jones
Ben Chilwell
Chilwell is another Chelsea player who was quickly moved onto the fringes of the squad when Enzo Maresca took over, and he has made just one appearance so far this season – against Barrow in the Carabao Cup.
Maresca has admitted that the former England international is free to leave during this window, though it is not known how much the club would demand for the 28-year-old.
The left-back has been linked to a range of sides including Manchester United, Juventus, West Ham and Brentford.
Players who may move in January
05:00 , Mike Jones
Nuno Mendes
Mendes is another ex-Sporting player who is now being linked to United, partly because of his spell under Amorim but also due to his ability to play wing-back.
The 22-year-old currently plays for PSG, but reports from France suggest that he has been unable to agree a new deal with his club and now wants to leave. His current deal runs out in the summer of 2026.
His ability to play wing-back means that United will continue to be linked, though a deal wouldn’t be cheap. Reports suggest that United have made an offer for Mendes, but there are not yet any details regarding the amount offered of any terms.
Players who may move in January
04:00 , Mike Jones
Viktor Gyokeres
Gyokeres has been one of the in-form strikers on the continent since the beginning of the season, and his time under now-Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim means that he is continuously linked to United.
As it stands this season, the striker has 23 goals in 22 games across the Primera Liga and Champions League, and with United having struggled upfront after signing Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee in recent windows, Amorim could well look to his old club to reinforce a struggling United attack.
Though te Swedish striker has proved himself as prolific in front of goal during his spell in Portugal, it is unlikely that United will try to make a move this month, with the club reportedly struggling under PSR regulations and Sporting reportedly setting an asking price around £60m.
Players who may move in January
03:00 , Mike Jones
Trent Alexander-Arnold
Alexander-Arnold won’t literally move this month, but he could well agree a move away from Liverpool as he enters the lasts months of his contract.
The full-back is among a trio of Liverpool players who are waiting on an offer from the club, and he has been widely tipped to agree a move to Real Madrid for the summer.
It seems like a 50/50 between agreeing a new deal and moving to Los Blancos, so this month could prove key to the 26-year-old’s future if Liverpool continue to stall.

Martin Zubimendi
Spanish central midfielder Zubimendi was the subject of a drawn-out pursuit from Liverpool in the summer, with the Real Sociedad man eventually telling the Reds that he wanted to stay at his boyhood club.
This time round, Liverpool will likely not believe that they need the Euro 2024 winner, though he has been linked with moves to Manchester City and Barcelona in recent weeks.
City seems the most fitting destination for him considering the injury to Rodri, with the 25-year-old having notably slotted into the Spain side in Rodri’s place in the final of Euro 2024 as La Roja won 2-1.
Though he has also been linked with Barça, a move across Spain seems unlikely at the moment considering the Catalan side’s struggle to register summer signing Dani Olmo. Nevertheless, some reports suggest that Zubimendi is still not keen on a move to England.

Marcus Rashford
The 27-year-old has been in the news almost every day in recent weeks, having essentially announced that he is ready to leave his boyhood club. Rumours persist that he is not in the plans of new United manager Ruben Amorim, and he has not been in a matchday squad since the club’s 2-1 in over Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League on 12 December.
It looks almost certain that Rashford will leave by the summer at the latest, but with United reportedly demanding around £40m for the winger, it remains to be seen whether any major clubs will have the money to do a deal this month.
Among the clubs rumoured to be interested are Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, while several Saudi Arabian clubs have also been linked.
United have sights on Mendes
00:00 , Mike Jones
Manchester United are keeping tabs on PSG’s Nuno Mendes ahead of a potential summer move. Mendes has entered the final 18 months of his contract and talks over a new contract with the French side have stalled0
United are looking to bolster their left-back options and Mendes could fit the bill. The club recently agreed a deal for Paraguayan defender Diego Leon who turns 18 in April.
It is thought the player will arrive in Manchester soon for a medical.
Casadei on verge of Chelsea exit
Monday 6 January 2025 23:00 , Mike Jones
Cesare Casadei looks set to leave Chelsea after he agreed a permanent transfer to Torino, according to The Sun.
The 21-year-old midfielder was signed in 2022 from Inter Milan in a deal worth £12.6m but was sent out on loan moves to Reading and Leicester before being recalled to the Blues squad in January last year.
Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, says a deal between the two clubs is being negotiated in the region of £10m with a buy back option included for the Blues.
Besiktas target Chris Wood
Monday 6 January 2025 22:30 , Mike Jones
Chris Wood has scored 11 goals in the Premier League this and is garnering interest from other clubs.
According to Fotomac, Turkish giants Besiktas are eyeing a move for the forward in the hopes of bringing him in as a partner for striker Ciro Immobile.
Nottingham Forest are, understandibly, not keen on selling during this window as they hope to maintain their great form and keep themselves in the top four.
Ruben Amorim responds to Joshua Zirkzee speculation
Monday 6 January 2025 19:30 , Mike Jones
Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim has responded to speculation that Joshau Zirkzee may leave Old Trafford in the January transfer window.
Zirkzee only joined from Bologna in the summer but The Sun reported earlier this week that Juventus are keen to bring the struggling striker to Turin on loan. He is still highly regarded in Italy after impressing for Bologna last season.
And after United’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool, Amorim didn’t completely dismiss the idea of Zirkzee leaving.
Ruben Amorim: “I want to keep Josh Zirkzee because he gives everything. He’s trying in training but we don’t know, the window is open… we will see what happens.”
Antony receiving interest
Monday 6 January 2025 16:29 , Mike Jones
Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth says that there are a few clubs interested in signing Manchester United’s Antony. At this stage most of the interest comes in terms of a loan move but United are willing to consider them.
Antony joined from Ajax in the summer of 2022 for £82m and has not started a Premier League game this season.
Julen Lopetegui leaving West Ham?
Monday 6 January 2025 16:09 , Mike Jones
This one has yet to be officially confirmed but talkSPORT have reported that West Ham are set to depart with their manager Julen Lopetegui.
The Hammers were beaten 4-1 by Manchester City at the weekend and at 14th in the table with fears they could be drawn into a relegation battle.
Lopetegui was brought in as a replacement for David Moyes with the aim of bringing a more exciting brand of football to the London Stadium but instead the club have seen performances get worse.
talkSPORT also say that the Irons are preparing to make Graham Potter, the former Chelsea and Brighton manager, the new boss to replace Lopetegui.
Marcus Rashford, Martin Zubimendi and six more players who could be on the move this January
Monday 6 January 2025 11:01 , Luke Baker
The winter transfer window is open with clubs across Europe looking for value in a difficult market this month.
Injury crises, title challenges and relegation battles will force plenty of clubs into the market in early 2025, with plenty of eyes on the Premier League as clubs such as Arsenal and Manchester City look primed to make signings.
Some high-profile players could be leaving England too this winter, with Marcus Rashford and Trent Alexander-Arnold being tipped to negotiate moves away from their clubs.
And across the continent, plenty of Europe’s in-form players are also being linked with moves, from Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi to Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres.
But who are the major players being tipped for moves, and where could they end up?
Rashford, Zubimendi and six other players who could be on the move this January
