Toronto man, 51, charged with murder in North York shooting

A 51-year-old Toronto man has been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a 69-year-old Toronto man earlier this month that police said was believed to be targeted.

Toronto Police said officers responded on Dec. 9 at 4:05 a.m. to a call in the Fairholme-Shermount Aves. area of North York.

Police alleged that a man was outside a residential address on Fairholme and he had been shot. The man, identified as Mariano De-Marco, was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Tuesday, police said Mauricio Sosa Guillen was arrested and charged.

It was the city’s 82nd homicide of the year.
