Telus has top 5G availability, Bell best 5G mobile gaming: report

OpenSignal has released a Mobile Network Experience Report collection data from October 1st to December 29th, 2024. The report details customer experience in a variety of categories from the top three networks, Bell, Telus and Rogers.

The new report finds that Rogers has received its second outright win for ‘Reliability Experience’ and its fourth win for ‘Consistent Quality.’

The report also finds that Telus has risen to the top for 5G availability, beating Rogers, the winner in the previous report. This means that its Canadian users with an active 5G subscription spend the highest proportion of time with 5G connection on Telus’ network.

Bell takes the lead in 5G Games Experience and is the only Canadian carrier to make it into the ‘Excellent’ category for 5G Games Experience (although just barely with a score of 85.1 out of 100, and to achieve Excellent it needs to score an 85). Telus and Rogers are placed in the ‘Good’ category, which is one tier below.

Bell wins the 5G Download Speed award; however, Telus ties with the carrier in the overall download speed category. Interestingly, Rogers keeps the award for best Upload Speed Experience and 5G Upload Speed.

OpenSignal collects billions of individual measurements daily from its 100 million devices globally and independently analyzes mobile and broadband user experience on every major network.

The OpenSignal report offers more details about the winners in even more categories, such as best 5G coverage and best 5G video experience.
