Shoppers are making kitchens look ‘luxury’ with ‘game changer’ £13 Amazon gadget

It’s simple, but effective

Designing a modern kitchen can be both difficult and expensive to get right. With ever increasing bills, investing a chunk of money to renovate your dream kitchen just isn’t a reality for a lot of folk these days.

However, if there’s one area that makes a huge difference to how a kitchen looks and feels, it’s lighting. Having both aesthetic and functional lighting underneath your cabinets can have a huge impact on the quality of the room – and there’s a £13 Amazon gadget that can provide just that.

The Gritin Under Cabinet Kitchen Lights use magnets to stick underneath cabinets, with the long bars emitting bright and even light across your counters. They’re normally £14.99, but a current Amazon sale has knocked a few quid off, taking them down to £12.74 for a pack of two.

With a 1,800mAh battery, these gadgets are capable of lasting for hours on end before running out of charge. When they do run dry, they’re charged via a USB C cable and are raring to go again in less than an hour.

The lights can either be turned on manually with three different colours and five brightness levels. Alternatively, they have motion sensors that can kick in when they detect movement on the counter top.

Strip lights might not be for everyone, but there are some spot versions also available at Amazon. A pack of six will set shoppers back £12.54.

The Gritin Under Cabinet Kitchen Lights are a number one best seller at Amazon, with it achieving a 4.7 star rating with shoppers. “Bloody marvellous! Bought some for my home, mentioned them to my mum, she bought some, she was so made up with them and mentioned them to my aunties who then both bought some,” writes one shopper.

Another customer says: “So pleased with these lights! I moved out toaster into the corner but it was too dark and you couldn’t see what you were doing. One of these lights above and problem solved.”

Meanwhile, a third shopper adds: “They do exactly as described, I put them underneath my kitchen cabinets and they give off a lovely light when I walk in. The lights are easy to install and charge quickly.”

However, some customers were less than enamoured with the battery life of the lights. “Lovely under kitchen cupboard lights and quite bright when fully charged but they fade quickly and need charging every 4 days, and that’s on sensor mode,” reads one review.

Another shopper thinks the sensor function should keep the lights on for longer than the 15-20 seconds it’s set at out of the box: “Inside a cupboard or wardrobe these would be ideal, but for underneath a kitchen cupboard they didn’t really work. The timer goes off in around 15 seconds and the sensitivity of the motion detector isn’t enough to stop that happening as you stand cutting up veg or washing up a few feet away.”
