The newcomer make a surprise arrival on the cobbles last month, much to the complete shock of her former wife, Lisa Swain
Coronation Street fans have been warned who they should be ‘keeping an eye on’ amid Becky Swain’s return plot.
Fans of the ITV soap watched the newcomer make a surprise arrival on the cobbles last month, much to the complete shock of her former wife, Lisa Swain.
As far as the detective sergeant was aware, her partner was killed in the line of duty four years ago, something which was corroborated by her boss, DI Costello.
So it would be fair to say that Lisa wasn’t expecting to see Becky when turned up in the living room of her family home, No.6 Coronation Street, on their daughter, Betsy’s, 18th birthday, and shortl after celebrating her engagement to new partner, Carla Connor.
With Lisa stunned to be faced with the ghost from her past, unable to believe it was real, Becky explained that she had been in Spain under another name, having been put into witness protection, following an undercover operation gone wrong.
Lisa was even seen going to confront Costello in a bid to find out the truth, only for him to echo Becky’s version of events.
Becky has since been making frequent appearances on the cobbles – mostly uninvited – much to Carla’s irritation. However, with Betsy aware that her other mother is back, she, understandably, wants to try and make up for lost time.
Opening up about Becky’s character, Amy Cudden, who plays her, told Inside Soap: “Becky’s sense of humour is one of her tactics. She’s a very slippery character. If you were trying to give her an archetype, she’s a shapeshifter. She plays the room that she’s in.
“She knows that she can make Lisa laugh, and she knows that she can make Betsy laugh. If she’s looking to become closer to them, one of the easiest ways is to make them laugh and to soften them that way.”
And while fans are watching Becky, Amy has warned who they should be keeping a keen eye on.
She added to the publication: “The stakes just get higher! The road is going to get bumpier, but it will be a really fun road to travel down. And the fans should keep an eye on Costello…”
