GOAL! Southampton 0-1 Brighton (Joao Pedro, 23)
In case you were wondering, Southampton are going down. Joao Pedro goes through one-on-one and dinks the ball over Ramsdale to open the scoring.
Championship: There are only five 3pm kick-offs in the second tier. Thus far one goal has been scored thanks to Alex Mowatt for West Brom v Oxford.
Arsenal 0-0 West Ham: The Gunners are repeatedly threatening down the left as Wan-Bissaka struggles to cope with Calafiori and Trossard.
GOAL! Ipswich 0-1 Tottenham (Johnson, 18)
Son gets down the left and pings a cross which ends up in the back of the net thanks to Johnson.
Southampton 0-0 Brighton: Baleba’s free-kick is deflected off the wall, giving Ramsdale no chance but he thankfully gets to watch it go just over.
Ipswich 0-0 Tottenham: It is very lively at Portman Road, where Brennan Johnson has been cautioned for a foul on Leif Davis.
Ipswich 0-0 Tottenham: Tim Donovan emails: “This match could finish 5-0 to Ipswich, 0-5 to Spurs or 5-5. It’ll finish as a 0-0 draw then!”
Arsenal 0-0 West Ham: After a quiet start the Gunners are getting on top of the Hammers, who are being pushed by.
League Two: Doncaster are winning at Accrington, while Bradford lead MK Dons thanks to Antoni Sarcevic.
Southampton 0-0 Brighton: Bednarek has gone off injured and Bella-Kotchap is on for his first league appearance this season.
Bournemouth 0-0 Wolves: A great save from Arrizabalaga. A Wolves shot rebounds to Bellegarde whose shot from close range is superbly turned wide.
Ipswich 0-0 Tottenham: Delap is causing Spurs plenty of problems at the moment. Gray at centre-back might not be the ideal candidate to stop him.
Southampton 0-0 Brighton: Ugochukwu is already in the book for a poor challenge on Joao Pedro. Not what you need from your central midfielder.
National League: It’s all happening at York where Halifax have scored twice inside three minutes.
Ipswich 0-0 Tottenham: NO GOAL! Delap pings a shot which Vicario pushed out towards Hutchinson and it rebounds into the net but the flag is up.
Kick off
The 3pm whistles have been tooted.
“A rousing fightback does not camouflage the extent to which Ruben Amorim and Manchester United were reprieved at Goodison Park. The visitors recovered from two goals down to salvage a point against in-form Everton, but only after a penalty awarded to David Moyes’ team was controversially overturned in the 96th minute.”
Andy Hunter was at Goodison Park.
Jeremy Boyce has been in touch: “Some top Premier League action coming no doubt, meanwhile in the Championship it’s still “elimination par arriere” like the Tour de France climbing Ventoux. Burnley kept up the pressure last night, spanking Sheff Wed 4 – 0. Barry’s Sunderland Young Boys cracked today, an unexpected 0 – 1 reversal to ‘Ull leaving them now 8 points short of the automatic spots. 3 into 2 don’t go, so one of the top 3 looks likely to join Sunderland in the playoffs. Monday night at Bramall Lane is looking well tasty.”
Balaji emails: “Arsenal effectively have four left-backs on the bench – Tierney, Lewis-Skelly, Zinchenko, Kiwior,
“Embarrassing riches to be left back on the bench …”
Four does seem like too many …
Early EFL results …
Championship
Derby County 0-1 Millwall
Plymouth 1-1 Cardiff
Sunderland 0-1 Hull
League One
Reading 0-0 Birmingham
Rotherham 0-1 Barnsley
League Two
Crewe 3-0 Barrow
Morecambe 0-2 Walsall
|Scotland’s game of the day, naturally, is at Tannadice as Dundee United welcome Motherwell, who will be managed for the first time by Michael Wimmer,” writes Simon McMahon. “The Steelmen have been United’s bogey team this season, having beaten them three times already, each time by a single goal, so United will be desperate to break that sequence, especially after a recent poor run of results. Struggling Dundee travel to Dingwall for a relegation six pointer against Ross County, and Rangers are at home to St. Mirren. In the early kick off Hibs held on to shock Celtic 2-1. The title race is back on.”
Arsenal’s new No 9.
Anyway … join Baz for all the reaction from Goodison Park. I will turn my attention to everything else in the Premier League today.
Full-time! Everton 2-2 Manchester United
What an ending. Needless to say, the Everton players are asking questions of the referee.
NO PENALTY! The VAR officials for this match have been pretty poor. I’ve no idea what Madley’s seen to decide that is not a penalty. Bottled it?
Andrew Madley is off to look at the monitor to decide whether to stick with his decision or not. Looks more like it is De Ligt on Young rather than Maguire, although he also has a tug.
PENALTY TO EVERTON! Young goes down after a touch form Maguire in the 93rd minute!
Barney Ronay on the lad Nunez.
GOAL! Everton 2-2 Manchester United (Ugarte, 80): Everton fail to clear a free-kick and the Uruguayan picks up the loose ball and volleys home from just inside the box.
A work of art.
GOAL! Everton 2-1 Manchester United (Fernandes, 72). The United skipper curls in a free-kick to give his side some hope.
This is quite funny on many levels.
Bill emails: “Thanks, as ever, for your brilliantly informative and entertaining commentary, and company.
“What a back four for the Arsenal! Long time since we’ve had a better one, if ever? If that front three can click (big if), then we’re in for a showdown. If Liverpool drop significant points in their next two toughish games, all the more so.
“And what has Moyes put in the drinking water at Everton?”
Have United stopped giving their players water to save money?
And that is all the team news. The most striking thing? Mikel Merino starts as the Arsenal No 9 after his two-goal heroics at Leicester.

Get your fill of things to look out for. I wrote a lot of them.
Over at Goodison Park, the TV cameras have just shown a very morose Amorim. He does not look happy at all.
And while we are waiting for the 3pms, do feel to join Barry Glendenning to find out if Manchester United can get any worse at Everton.
Naturally, you all want to read out Murillo. Thankfully, I have done some writing about the man.
Prime yourself for today’s action with some hot preview material.
Preamble
Today we are being treated to five Saturday 3pm kick-offs in the Premier League. Arsenal are the highest-ranked team in action this afternoon and a win over West Ham would close the gap on Liverpool, who face Manchester City tomorrow. The striker-less Gunners toiled to victory at Leicester last week and Graham Potter might think he can stifle Mikel Arteta’s side.
Bournemouth could end the day in the top four with victory over Wolves, who are eager to move away from the relegation zone. Fellow battlers Southampton and Ipswich face difficult home games against Brighton and Tottenham, respectively. If the Saints lose, they might as well pack their bags and jump on the plane for their summer holidays. Ipswich repeatedly show signs of life and considering how unpredictable Tottenham are, they will be confident of securing a double over Ange Postecoglou’s men.
Finally, we have a London derby where Fulham host Crystal Palace. Marco Silva’s side have secured back-to-back wins over Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, and have only lost twice in their past 13 matches, so will fancy their chances at Craven Cottage today. A win would put them seventh and making their European dream more realistic.
3pm kick-offs:
Arsenal v West Ham
Bournemouth v Wolves
Fulham v Crystal Palace
Ipswich v Tottenham
Southampton v Brighton
