KARACHI:
President of Sindh and Karachi Basketball Associations, Advocate Ghulam Abbas Jamal, has appealed to Federal Advisor Rana Sanaullah, Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar, and Secretary POA Haji Khalid Mahmood to uphold justice by recognising the authority of the legitimate bodies in Sindh.
“There is only one Basketball Association in Sindh and one genuine Karachi Basketball Association,” said Ghulam Abbas in his appeal.
“However, it is highly regrettable that the Pakistan Basketball Federation has appointed one individual as the sole in-charge of team selections and all related matters for the National Youth Games.
“No selection committee has been formed, and the venue chosen for team trials is a private bungalow with a personal court, where the general public has no access,” he pointed out.
The Sindh Basketball Association (SBA) and Karachi Basketball Association (KBA) have formally informed the SOA, Commissioner Karachi, and the Sports Department in writing about these irregularities but to no avail.”
“Therefore, the SBA and KBA now jointly appeal to your esteemed offices to urgently look into this grave matter and ensure that rightful stakeholders are given their due rights,” said Ghulam Abbas.
He further requested Rana Sanaullah to instruct the SOA to assign selection and management responsibilities to the duly recognized representatives of Sindh and Karachi.
The respected basketball official made a special appeal to Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar, reminding him that as the President of SOA, he should seek information from the Secretary, Treasurer, and other office bearers about the controversy created by PBF.
“This will reveal the full truth regarding who is genuinely promoting basketball in Sindh and who is damaging it,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ghulam Abbas has also formed a committee comprising SBA Secretary Aamir Sharif, KBA Secretary Zahid Malik, International Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry, Haji Muhammad Ashraf Yahya, Engineer Zain-ul-Abideen Channa and Zaima Khatoon to raise awareness in sports circles about PBF’s unjust decision.
