A worker involved in a snow removal operation in Gatineau is dead after being struck by a heavy vehicle Monday.
The incident occurred just before 1 p.m. on Feb. 24 near the intersection of La Vérendrye Boulevard O and de Cannes Street, Gatineau police said in a news release.
When first responders arrived at the scene, the pedestrian was pronounced dead, police said.

The worker who died was reportedly an employee of a subcontracting company involved in a snow removal operation.
There is “no criminal element” involved at this time, the release stated, adding that investigators were assisting the coroner in determining the causes and circumstances of the fatal collision.
It stated that La Vérendrye Boulevard West, between Gatineau Avenue and de Cannes Street, as well as de Cannes Street, between de Rayol and Saint-Vallier Streets, would be closed to traffic for an indefinite period.
